Quote of the Week:-
"It is better to ask some of the questions than to know all
the answers."

FinePrint:- http://www.fineprint.com

FinePrint is printing utility which allows us to manage our print
jobs in an unimaginable way. FinePrint sits between the application and
the printer. It has various features such as: it saves paper space, insert
watermarks, create double-sided booklet, transfer a document into a
specified format (.txt or .tiff) and combine multiple print jobs into a
single print job. This tool can be very helpful in the digital age. Some
features of FinePrint are-

We can print 2,4 or 8 pages in a single sheet maintaining the
readability by adjusting the margins.

Sometimes in a web page, only 3-4 lines are there, but it will
take whole page while printing. With FinePrint we can manage it easily.
Webpages can be ordered in the way we want and can create a
Booklet or Brochure easily.

While printing a webpage, there may be lot of advertisement
Bitmaps. We can eliminate these Bitmaps and thus can save ink and the
printing will also be very fast.

With FinePrint, one can create the his own letterhead and then can
print all the document on that letterhead. No need to adjust the
letterhead before printing.

One can assemble printing jobs from different applications in a
single print job.

One can insert Watermark, Header or Footer in each job. This
feature can be very useful for securing the documents.

Pages from any application can be copied into the clipboard and
can be pasted into other application.

This tool can be used in various ways. suppose we have some mails
which we have to sent to any other person. Now the options are to forward
them or select, copy and paste in a file to be send. But by using
FinePrint, we have to open the mails and click the save option of
FinePrint interface. In this way all the mails can be clubbed in a single
text file and then can be send as a link. So this tool can be effectively
used in saving money (in terms of papersheet and printer ink) and time.

The programme is freely available (1.6 MB).

The various options of FinePrint can be seen on the system
csi-169.

To demonstrate the various fetures of this, I have created a demo
page which can be viewed by clicking the link given below. This page I
have craeted by using a Net Collabration Tool "E-Quill". In this page I
have used Highlighter Tool, Pen Tool and Note Tool (Comments) of E-Quill
programme. E-Quill will be covered in the next issue.

Quote of the week-:

"I care not what others think of what I do, but I care very much about
what I think of what I do"

DNS2GO-: http://www.dns2go.com

This service is particularly useful, if we have the dial-up
connection and we want to run our own website. Actually, for dial-up
connection, we can't have static IP address, which is essential for
providing Internet services. http://www.dns2go.com provides the necessary link
between dynamic IP address and static domain name. We have to sign-up with
the service, download and install its client (900 KB) utility. In the
sign-up process, the service allows to select a domain name of the form
(yourname.dns2go.com) and makes the necessary alterations to link this
domain name to your current IP address.

The client continuously works in the background and keeps on
updating the 'domain name'-IP equation so that any other remote computer
application that tries to access your machine through this domain will get
your current IP address and becomes capable of accessing your Net
services. This means your machine is now all set to host Net services such
as web server, mail server, FTP server and news server.

Now the next step is to host a site in our PC. To accomplish this,
we need to install a web server that responds to requests from other
clients distributed across the Net. Now after configuring the web server,
we need to copy the pages into the assigned directory. Now one can type
the webaddress (yourname.dns2go.com) and the hosted pages can be seen by
others. To access this site, we should keep our machine on; it should be
connected to the Net and, of course, the DNS2Go client and web server
should be running.

One can check this by typing the website address
"madhur.dns2go.com", if I am online, it will show the Test page (I haven't
hosted the pages) otherwise it will connect to www.dns2go.com amd will
display the message "The User is Currently Offline........". One more
thing, if the user is offline, he can redirect the requests to any other
link.
